About HERO
Our story, our faith, and the Heroes who make recovery possible.
Where HERO began
HERO was founded and inspired by people in recovery. Many spent years struggling with alcohol, pills and street drugs and lost what matters most: family, friends, self-esteem, money, a place to live, and sometimes their freedom. For many, recovery begins with surrender to the Lord and the willingness to start again.
As people recover, often in a structured program, they slowly step back into community living. But most start with very little: no money, little trust, and few people willing to help.
The Heroes we honor
The people who do help are the resource providers, churches, agencies and case managers who give their time to rebuilding lives. Often overworked and underpaid, they are always available to make a difference. These are the Heroes we depend on and honor.
Rebuilding means recovering an ID, a Social Security card, a birth certificate, benefits for food and healthcare, a job, a home, and relationships that were hurt along the way.
Why communication comes first
Having no way to reach anyone can add real anxiety to an already hard season. People need to call family, reach employers and benefit offices, and use online resources. The first step in rebuilding is helping your client be accountable and sustainable, and a working phone makes that possible.
What we set out to do
HERO was founded to help resource partners get a dependable device to the people they serve, and to keep the process simple for the case managers who do the work.
